The creaking and chattering of shifting bones heralds the arrival of Lithopaedion. This creature was found in a deep space anomaly known as Ossuary, a resting place for a lost civilization, familiar only to the Xixian masters until recently. The Lithopaedion is believed to be able to turn victims to stone with their gaze, but this is misleading. In actuality, they produce an airborne compound that slowly ossifies organic material in their vicinity.

I originally created this creature for my board game In The Xixian Shadows as an enemy card. Being one of my favorite designs, I opted to recreate it in Zbrush, and quite literally "fleshed out" the design in 3D space. This was a very challenging design to sculpt and paint, but I'm reasonably happy with the result.
